So what exactly is a podcast?
A podcast is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the internet for playback on mobile devices (such as an iPod), and
personal computers. The term, coined in 2004, combines "iPod," a popular portable audio device, and "broadcasting."
The term podcast, like 'radio,' can mean both the content and the method of delivery. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Though podcasters'
web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using
software capable of reading feeds, such as iTunes.
Usually a podcast features one type of 'show,' with new episodes released either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily or weekly.
What makes podcasting special is that it allows individuals to publish (podcast) radioshows that interested listeners can subscribe to. Before podcasting, you could of
course record a radio show and put it on your website, but now people can automatically receive new shows without having to go to a specific site and download it from
there.

How do I get these podcasts?
Step 1: Download & install iTunes
There are many different 'feedcatchers' out there, but iTunes is likely the most popular and easy to use. You can download iTunes directly from Apple's website. iTunes is free and is available for both Mac and PC.
Step 2: Subscribe to our podcast
- Open iTunes
- Click on Advanced in the menu bar
- Click on Subscribe to podcast
- A window will open asking for a URL. Copy-n-Paste the following link into that window: http://rolandgilbert.hipcast.com/rss/firewheel_church_podcast.xml
Step 3: Download and Sync
Once you subscribe to our podcast, the newest episode will begin to download. Other episodes will be available, and you can download those at your discretion. After downloading you can sync the episodes to your iPod (if you have one). And thats it!
If you use a different application to subscribe to and download podcasts, simply copy the feed below and enter it into your 'feedcatcher.'
